1890's- Hats & Bonnets

"Donna" is an impertinent little hat of vintage black cotton velvet on a buckram base. The velvet is virtually identical to that used on the original hat in my collection (see gallery.) Silk taffeta forms the trim folds. Vintage ostrich plumes and new berries complete the brim. The underside features a side bandeau, covered in a twist of velvet, that allow the hat to tip to the preferred angle and maintain stability. "Beatriz" was custom made from several illustrations and photographs in response to a request for a 90's hat with a tiny crown, curved brim with upturned back edge. This one is covered in ivory silk with a gathered tulle brim facing. The crown is decorated with poppy red vintage rayon ribbon, vintage wings and ostrich plume. $175.
